Protecting Today... Preserving Tomorrow

Help save 5,800 wild acres of forest habitat in the central Pennsylvania Wilds from being turned into the largest dump east of the Mississippi. Let the people in power know this area, noted for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities, is not compatible with a landfill-incinerator-industrial park complex!

Join People Protecting Communities.
The greater the membership, the greater the voice, and the greater the influence with officials who can stop it. There is strength in numbers. Download and print a membership form here.

Voice your concerns in public.
Attend meetings, show unity, write letters to the editor, and stay informed.

Send letters-- They make a difference!
Our letter page includes a list of current issues that need to be addresseed. You can take action on these issues in just a few minutes or write a letter of your own. If you have trouble writing letters or want to brief yourself on an issue, use our sample letters to help you get started or check our tips for effective letterwriting.

Send a copy of any letter you write to your State Representative and Senator and PPC. If you are a registered voter, make sure they know that. People power is our best resource in fighting this dump. Click here for the names and addresses of elected officials and agencies.

Donate what you can to the cause.
It takes time, effort, people power, and resources to fight big money. So far, most of our expenditures involve information gathering and getting the word out to the public. Most of this has been done with donations of materials and volunteer efforts. If you would like to join a committee or volunteer your skills, please contact us.

In addition, we foresee a need for lawyers, consultants, and expert witnesses in the near future to help stop this threat to our communities. We are fighting big money. Our most valuable asset is our voices (and we will use them), but it will take some money to fight big money. Please support the cause and donate today.

Please send your check/money order to PPC, PO Box 38, Clarence, PA 16829.

Learn more about landfills, incinerators, and zero waste.

Recover resources. Reduce, reuse, recycle and compost.

What's so bad about a landfill? Why stop it? There's myriad issues, some specific to the selected site. Overall, landfills are bad news for public health, safety, and quality of life no matter how well they are constructed with today's "standards." Read this short list of impacts.

Pennsylvania Representative "Bud" George, long-time landfill opponent, has introduced a bill to stem the flow of out-of-state trash to Pennsylvania. Urge your state congressmen to support House Bill 508, which includes a moratorium on new landfills and landfill expansions.
